The president of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, said on Thursday that he proposes the formation of a government of national union with prime minister from the AUR, Petrisor Peiu, noting that it is necessary for all parties to sit down at the negotiation table.
“I believe in the variant of a truly national union government, not artificially divided into sovereignists and so-called pro-Europeans. And we are Europeans because all of us here are dignitaries of the Romanian state, a European state. (…) We are European because we are Romanian and we want to dialogue with all political forces. The electoral campaign is over. We can sit at the table with all of formations and find a formula to get out of this crisis. We propose a variant in which we give a government of national union with a prime minister from the AUR, Mr. Petrisor Peiu,” Simion told a press conference.
He added that the AUR wants to agree on a set of measures applicable in a period of 36 months, noting that these are “concrete measures to give satisfaction to the Romanians who went to the polls and voted in a certain way” .
“We cannot continue the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition as if the vote of the Romanians does not matter”, added Simion. AGERPRES
