The cow’s milk collected in the first 11 months of 2024 by processors in Romania from farms and collection centres was up4.3% y-o-y, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The highest increase in production between January 1 and November 30, 2024 was recorded for butter (+9.4%). The amount of raw milk imported by processing units increased by 41.7%.
In November 2024, the amount of cow’s milk collected decreased by 2.4% on a monthly basis and increased by 11.2% y-o-y.
The largest decrease in production was recorded for sour milk (yoghurt, drinking yoghurt, buttermilk and other similar dairy products) (-12.5%). Butter production posted the highest increase (+9.7%).
The amount of raw milk imported by processing units decreased by 14.1% in November 2024.
As against November 2023, the amount of cow’s milk collected by processing units increased in November 2024 by11.2%.
The production of cream for consumption reported the highest increase (+12.1%). The amount of raw milk imported by processing units increased in November 2024 by 22.7% y-o-y.
