Decrees signed by Iohannis – New accredited ambassadors

Dan Stoenescu was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Radu Mihail Filip to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

The two accreditation decrees for the new ambassadors were signed on Monday by President Klaus Iohannis, the Presidential Administration announced.

Dan Stoenescu has been in charge of European Union affairs in Syria since September 2021. Previously, he was minister delegate for relations with Romanians everywhere (2015-2016) and in the period 2017-2021, ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Tunisia. He holds a master’s degree in Globalization and Development from Warwick University in the UK (2005) and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Bucharest (2009).

Radu-Mihail Filip is the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and director of the Spokesperson and Mass Media Relations Directorate within the Foreign Ministry since June 2022. Previously, he was a diplomatic advisor at the Romanian Embassy in Ukraine and secretary II at the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova. He was a personal adviser at the Ministry of Justice, where he managed the relationship with the mass media. He also held various positions in the central public administration and in the private sector, mainly in the scientific and research field.

The joint committees for foreign policy and the committees for Romanian communities abroad from the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies granted on September 17, following the hearings, favorable opinions in the case of the two.
