Two American filmmakers, John Alexander and JC Guest, Emmy Award winners for the documentary “Little Satchmo”, will participate in the 21st edition of the International Film and Television Festival SIMFEST in Targu Mures, which will take place from September 30 to October 6, informs Agerpres.

“The 21st edition of the SIMFEST International Film and Television Festival will bring to Romania, among other special guests, the American filmmakers John Alexander and JC Guest, who won an Emmy award last year for their documentary ‘Little Satchmo’, made for PBS, about the secret daughter of jazz legend Louis Armstrong. Director John Alexander has been appointed as a member of the final jury for the festival’s official competition selections, and JC Guest will give a masterclass on international independent filmmaking. The two filmmakers will be present throughout the festival,” announced on Wednesday the president of the SIMFEST Cultural Association, Ioan Ceausescu, quoted in a press release.

According to the SIMFEST organizer, in addition to “Little Satchmo”, Alexander and Guest are known for directing and producing the multi-award-winning feature-length documentary “This Is Love”, with Mick Fleetwood as executive producer, about soul music hero Rudy Love.

The two are also known for the cult thriller “Bender”, about America’s first family of serial killers, starring Oscar-nominated actor Bruce Davison.
